Our Story
Tracktreads is a privately owned company providing software solutions to the earthmoving and mining industry.
Founded in Cape Town, South Africa, John Bruyns started the company shortly after moving to Melbourne, Australia. Drawing on his engineering background and industry contacts, he quickly developed a passion for software solutions.
Our Journey
In 2001, Tracktreads developed its first system for the CAT dealership William Adams, known in oil laboratories as Oil Commander. The system spread organically within the Caterpillar Network, processing over 22 million samples—around 45% of the annual CAT S.O.S. Sample Volume. This application was sold in 2016.
Next, John turned his focus to Undercarriage Management, creating systems to calculate wear rates and send instantaneous reports across all manufacturers. Promoting predictive maintenance and data-driven analytics, our slogan “The Industry Standard” was born. By combining training, knowledge, and technology tools, we help teams move from reactive maintenance to proactive preventative care. Our specialised inspection tools integrate with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) solutions, providing accurate data to those who need it.
Innovative Solutions
Tracktreads also developed a Ground Engaging Tools (GET) Inspection System, capable of managing bodies, trays, and blades. This groundbreaking system includes crack mapping and has allowed us to create an extensive database of implement images.
