1. Component selection – ensure the components selected match the environment and the application of the machine.
  2. Record the start point, when installing the components, in both hours and distance
  3. Inspect the undercarriage regularly, focus on the percent worn, and look for any potential causes of accelerated wear. A change in the wear rates between inspections will be a tell-tale sign this is occurring. Also review the condition of the frames at each inspection.
  4. Plan the mid-lives, if this makes economic sense, turn Pins and Bushes, re-grouse shoes, swap Idlers and track rollers from front to back.
  5. Forecast the end point for the undercarriage replacement ensuring the maximum % wear is achieved across most components
